A Big Oops!
What would you do if you found the world’s oldest animal? A group of researchers killed the amazing sea creature. That’s right, a team from the United Kingdom dredged up a 405 year old quahog clam and the poor thing died.
They determined its age by counting its growth rings, which will give them important data about the temperature of the ocean during its lifetime. They also hope to learn more about the ageing process and how to prolong human life by studying these clams.
